The New Paradigm Theatre is partnering with the Norwalk Symphony for a one night only concert at 8pm on Feb 23rd. (possible additional matinee same day) of one of the greatest musicals in the American repertoire.  The concert will be performed on Saturday February 23rd with a one week rehearsal process in Norwalk CT.

This MTI approved version was premiered by the San Francisco Symphony.  It is a concert version with very minimal dialogue and no dancing or costumes .  All dialogue will be spoken in the appropriate dialect.

The producers will provide housing and round trip travel to Norwalk and back to NYC (once) for our AEA guest artists. FOR ALL SUBMISSIONS, STRONGLY SEEKING LOCAL HOUSING HIRES. 

Accepting NON-AEA, EMC and AEA

It is highly recommended that you submit for a live auditions. Video submissions will be accepted only at producers discretion. If you are not able to attend the NY auditions and would like to audition in CT please submit to info@nptheatre.org for the local Oct 27th auditions. 

Seeking actors with Broadway or recognizable credits.  Due to short rehearsal period (one week) all roles must be learned and memorized before the start of rehearsal.  Strongly seeking actors who have performed these roles previously.

MARIA – (20-30, Hispanic) A hopeless romantic and innocent young girl. She falls in love with Tony and finds herself at the center of the violent conflict between the two gangs. Bernardo’s younger sister. Strong soprano voice. Range: Bb3 – C6.

ANITA –  (25-35, Hispanic) Feisty and assertive. She dispenses “older sister” advice to Maria and tries to shield her from the dangers of the gangs. Bernardo’s girlfriend and Maria’s friend. Strong Alto (belt).  Range: F3 – D5.

TONY – (25-35) A romantic young man and former leader of the Jets, he has found a new lifestyle now that doesn’t involve gangs. Tony finds himself violently torn between his friendships and love. Falls in love with Maria and meets an unfortunate death. Genuinely sweet and sincere. Strong tenor voice. Range: Bb2 – Bb4.

RIFF  (25-35) An athletic, quick-tempered leader of the Jets. He seeks to eliminate the Sharks and establish his own gang’s dominance. Tony’s best friend, he is eventually murdered by Bernardo. Strong singer. Range: Bb2 – G4.

All other characters will be local hires.  You may attend the CT audition if you are interested in these roles.  Some  supporting roles will have per diems but not housing or travel provided. For those auditions please submit to info@nptheatre.org  No video submissions will be accepted for the local auditions and supporting roles.
