The New Paradigm Theatre and Norwalk Symphony Orchestra announce a talent search!

NPT and NSO are co-producing South Pacific: In Concert on February 8, 2020 and are hosting a state-wide/school-wide search for the child roles of Ngana and Jerome. Schools may nominate four candidates (two for each role) to submit a video audition by November 8th, 2019. Individuals may also submit their own videos without the help of their schools. 

The artistic team will choose candidates from these video auditions to audition live on November 23rd in Norwalk, CT for the artistic team. The winners of these two roles will perform with the full orchestra, Broadway and professional performers on Saturday, February 8, 2020.

The artistic team for South Pacific includes:

    • Claire Kelly – Stage Director – Artistic Director of Shakespeare on the Sound
    • Jonathan Yates – Maestro – Artistic Director of Norwalk Symphony Orchestra
    • Kristin Huffman – Producer – Artistic Director New Paradigm Theatre

Information and details to submit your video for an audition for the following roles:

Two lead youth roles:

    • Ngana – female: 7-14 years old. Emile DeBeque’s first born who takes full advantage of being the older
      sibling. Excellent singing voice. Child alto. Ethnicity: Asian/Pacific Islander/Polynesian/Mixed ethnic.
    • Jerome- male: 7-14 years old Emile DeBeque’s youngest child; a precocious and curious young boy.
      Excellent singing voice. Child alto. Ethnicity: Asian/Pacific Islander/Polynesian/Mixed ethnic.

3. Send your video as an MP3 to info@nptheatre.org by November 8th.

4. Please include a recent picture of the youth talent and their height; and a parent or guardian’s name, email, phone number, and address.

5. Be sure you are available February 1 through February 9, 2020. Weekday rehearsals may start at 4pm and run
until 10pm. Friday dress rehearsal (on February 7, 2020) will run from 3pm until 10pm. YOU MUST BE
AVAILABLE THIS WEEK TO BE CONSIDERED. PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR MATERIALS IF YOU ARE
NOT.

6. The show is on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 7:30pm (snow date is February 9, 2020 is at 4pm).

7. If you are chosen for a live audition it will take place between 10am-12:00pm on Saturday, November 23, 2019. You will be heard by the artistic team that day. Only two children will be chosen. SUBMIT ALL MATERIALS (video recording, headshot (or simple photo), resume (if you have one, or cover letter if not) to info@nptheatre.org (Please be sure to write in the subject line: Audition for Youth in South Pacific)
